With the stamp duty on sellers lowered in a surprise move by the Singapore Government, there’s definitely more room for prospective homeowners to breathe now. While a good 80% or more of our population resides in the ubiquitous HDB flat, the condo is ever present in the 5 ‘C’s of many a Singaporean. For prospective homeowners considering a condo, here are some designs to inspire you!

1) H20 Residences

H20 Residences by The Orange Cube

This eclectic mix of colour palettes results in a striking interior that’s classy without losing its fun touch. With a mostly monochrome interior, the homeowner livens things up with a pop of colour here and there in the form of soft toys and potted plants.

Yong from The Orange Cube, the designer of this home, shares with us his insights and inspirations in the designing process. “There was lots of wood and white to create a contrast, and the cupboards had specifically rounded edges. I used solid plywood with a laminate finish for the ceiling as the living area was the focus area, and created a special lighting effect with LED strips. With such a modern themed home, the main colours were dark wood and white- I used a foldable table in the dining area to reduce the wastage of space even further.”

2) The Casafina

This home channels some serious retro vibes- the feature brick wall brings us back to an era bygone, with the choice of a unique green leather sofa adding to the vintage feel of the decor.  The quirkiness of this home is emphasised through the wild dashes of colour in the form of the hanging artwork and rugs, topped off with a cute little rocking horse. This truly is the epitome of living the 70s life!

3) Flora Drive

Chic and minimalist, this neutral-toned home balances out the abundance of whites with muted shades of beige and grey, and further complements it with a warm wood table. There is a hint of industrial design in the ceiling fan and light fixtures, adding dimension to the home’s general decor.

Lanerty from U-Home told us that the whites and greys were meant to neutralise this home’s decor, as it’s a mix of styles that complement each other.

Beautifully melded together with a wood floor, this home features heavy industrial elements in the form of the rough concrete wall, establishing a clean but edgy look. The wooden furniture softens the edges of this home, while the space is amplified with glass partitions. The hint of marble and black furnishing also amps up the chic factor, making this condo a dream to live in.

“Simple and minimalist feel, the addition of the black marble will increase the modern chic factor- there’s a hint of industrial design in this home, so there’s a mix of designs.” Desmond from Des & Co dishes on his thoughts on this home.

5) The Serennia

The Serennia by Vegas Interior Design

Rich and luxurious in every way, this home looks like something straight out of a Korean chaebol(heir) drama. Elements such as the carpet and the lighting add to the soft, sultry vibes of this home that’s heavy with the browns. The unique light fixture adds some warmth to this otherwise dark home, making the decor easier on the eyes.

“Mainly wood laminates which is common in resort designs, and the use of a lot of natural materials. Pendant lights made using cane – this is as resorts try to incorporate a lot of designs related to nature to blend in with the background. The palm tree further enhances that same feeling.” Jonathan from Vegas Interior Design explains that a tropical resort was his main inspiration in the designing of this home.

6) Heron Bay

Heron Bay by Absolook

The choice of yellow lighting is one that’s useful in making this white-and-marble heavy place more homely. With the marble feature wall and glass table, this sleek home is made just a little more rustic with its choice of carpet and wooden fan.

Madeline from Absolook tells us that “using wood and marble, it created a cozy luxe feel. The unique part is that the wood panel is linked from the TV console all the way to the dining area, creating a wave like flow”. The usage of such materials creates a harmonious atmosphere in the home as well.
