Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

We've engaged Chris from FINELINE to help us to design our new place. Since it's a relatively old HDB flat, we need to do a full renovation. Chris was able to provide his ideas and propose solutions to meet our needs; And he help out to monitor the project and do onsite support during the renovation. And the overall service level is good. It was not easy to keep up to the timeline during this period due to COVID but he managed to do it while budget wise, it was a bit over our budget but it was worthwhile when we see the final outcome. The whole progress involves many tedious tasks/points which require the designer to focus more on the details and communicate if and when there is any changes to the original plan. This is something can be improved and overall, we are satisfied with the service that Chris provided to us.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

We were originally thinking of doing the renovation on our own. Thank God we didn’t cos our reno was disrupted by first the Malaysia MCO and then Circuit Breaker. We met Minyi at a Qanvast event and after seeing like 7-8 firms, we went with Fineline as we could click most with her. Minyi is very energetic and responsive and knows her stuff, gently guiding us back when our ideas were impractical or technically infeasible or otherwise aesthetically challenged. She is attentive and listens well (only one who remembered an item brief important to the boss aka wife). She was also helped us with our appeals to HDB and managed the project extremely well during the circuit breaker by moving things around where there were many delays due to unavailability of workers to meet our deadline. She also handled and managed our inconvenienced neighbours during this period. She is also responsive in arranging for the touch up and rectifications post handover. There were a couple of minor items that on hindsight could be better but we are overall pretty happy with the result and thank God for Minyi and team for being part of building our new home.

Jayden from Fineline was brilliant during our renovation!! He’s meticulous, extremely responsive, and very professional and experienced. He was very careful to consider our budget without compromising on quality and his advice and input was invaluable! He made the entire process very fuss free and all my friends were surprised that the renovation went so smoothly especially during the covid period - no doubt a testament to his abilities! We would not hesitate to recommend him to all our friends who is in need of a contractor and will definitely go back to him for all future projects!

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

We decided to go with Fineline after talking to a few design firms as we thought they gave us the most practical initial design with quality materials at a reasonable cost. The real design process took quite a few sessions as there were numerous concerns we had regarding the renovation process. Fevien and Addy were patient with us and helped us to decide on the final design according to our needs and preferences. There were several changes along the way due to various issues like change of fridge, bed size and many different equipment and appliances that needed to fit into the spaces, but these were all handled professionally by them. Even though there was a shortage of manpower due to covid19, they tried their best to complete the renovations within the time allocated, and both Fevien and Addy even had to help out in the cleaning and rectifications til late at night to ensure everything was ready. All in all, we are pleased with the professionalism and hardworking attitude of the Fineline team and their workmanship is at their usual high standard. Highly recommended!

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

We hired Fineline Design back in December last year to fully renovate a 50 year old, original condition 3 room HDB. Both designers were nice to work with, patient and knowledgeable. They clearly don't count their hours and were always available and quick to reply whenever we had questions or concerns. They offered good suggestions and ideas while carefully listening to our requests. We were especially pleased with the quality of the tiling works throughout the house. We had quite specific requests around the bathroom and it was very neatly executed. Despite the current situation, they managed to complete the renovation in time (and even a bit earlier than expected). Very few negative points overall. Regarding carpentry, we think maybe there could have a bit more attention to detail during the final assembly phase. But at the same time, all the small issues were ironed out promptly once we flagged them so it really wasn't of much concern in the end. The quality of the carpentry otherwise is satisfying. Would definitely recommend Fineline Design to anyone looking for a trustworthy and reliable interior design firm.

Steve and Jeremy are friendly and easy to work with. Their designs had met our expectations, yet without burning our pockets. They respect our ideas and comments and incorporate them into their design for our house. They are very responsive to our impromptu requests and queries and had been a great help especially working amidst the current COVID limitations and the tight timeline for our renovations.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

We had met up with several IDs on Qanvast recommended. Out of the many, Fevien from Fineline Design was able to gave us designs which we were looking out for. The chemistry and thoughtful designs convinced us to handover the renovation in her hands. The project was managed well and issues were promptly resolved as soon as it was raised by us. As a first timer in house renovation, there were worries if our renovation journey would be smooth when we heard different stories online or from friends. Thankfully, Fevien has done a great job in ensuring the renovation progressed smoothly step by step. During design stage, the 3D was impressive and design were promptly updated after we asked for some changes. When decision was hard to make, Fevien could provide her point of view and also provide few renders of different design to give us an overall feel of the house. During choosing of materials, she does help to shortlist few design like tiles and laminate, which fit the theme, for us to consider. During execution, the flooring and carpentry etc. were installed. Issues such as polishing of marble were promptly resolved. Workmanship was good and design changes were communicated clearly. The completion of renovation looked almost the same as the 3D design prepared during the design stage. Hence, we would highly recommend Fevien as your ID if you are looking for somebody who could not only bring out the design you want but also one who could resolve issues promptly which is important during any renovation projects.

Despite not being able to be on site to check in or see the physical space, I have given my full trust to Min Yi to assist on this home project. We had a great collaboration throughout the period via video call or messages. Big thanks to Min Yi for her effort and support to ensure the budget is within my range and constant checks on site on the progress. Am happy with the final results when I finally get to see it in person this year. Great work Wayne & Min Yi! Big Thank You!

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Just sharing my experience working with Fineline (MingYi and Chris). Background: Gardens @ Bishan, whole unit hack & renovate. Include tear down some original walls, build up walls, hack flooring, redo all toilets, all plumbing, all electrical, and custom carpentry for all rooms. Good Points: 1) MingYi and Chris are super friendly and we got along very well. They are honest, and they try to solve technical and logistical issues. I come to trust them and their opinions and suggestions over the project. 2) Time management - renovation occurred over Covid 19 period, with lockdowns and visitor restrictions. I would say 90% of time management done well. MingYi and Chris did superb job of managing the timeline and ensuring the project was executed in a timely manner. 3) Design - MingYi and Chris took our requirements and made improvements and suggestions. We are very satisfied with the final outcome, and would still choose the same look & design elements. 4) Design Extras - wall features, kitchen and bathroom surfaces, tile selection, and cabinet finishes - they guided us in all discussions and selection processes. They were very honest & transparent with pricing matters when it affected the quality and looks of the selection process. 5) Extra Miles - MingYi and Chris were fantastic with working with suppliers (plumbers, electricians, lighting, wet works supplies and all other materials). We had some defective products arriving, and we probably also had some damaged products during the Reno process. All of these were handled by MingYi and Chris and we never had any issues with the payment. Exchanges, refunds etc were all handled easily and no need for anything more than simple WhatsApp messages ;-). Last minute changes to our kitchen design meant opportunities for "new" concepts - all these did not upset MingYi and Chris, and they gladly (I hope ;-) worked with us to realise our (new) dreams. Areas where Fineline can improve: a) Design and Carpentry fabrication. Whilst our requirements might have been simple, we did have some additional, perhaps less common requirements. Eg, we wanted wireless "Qi" power charging for our devices built into the kitchen island. Initially this was "OK" but as the carpentry fabrication was performed by another team, constraints and other details eventually meant that this could not be realised. We also wanted some "simple" wooden beans with shelves so that our indoor plants can have a place to be displayed. Whilst "OK" initially, the carpentry team had to revise the plans due to concerns for stability and weight/load balance needs. These revisions meant the original look was altered. I suggest that prospective clients work with the designers AND the carpentry team earlier so that the carpentry concerns can be factored earlier into the design phase. b) Billing / Administrative. For reasons not clear to me, the company has a firm stance on its deposit and payment structures. Whilst this is not a significant issue to us, I suspect some flexibility here might go a long way to help customers feel confident. Final Thoughts: I would not hesitate to work with Fineline MingYi and Chris again. I find that it's impractical to expect perfect delivery of complicated projects, and I was honestly prepared to bang tables and bang heads if needed (I have previously taken another Renovation company to Small Claims Tribunal and won). With MingYi and Chris, they were client focused, client centric and never made me regret my decision to work with them. Granted, as with all complex projects, unexpected issues did crop up, and some miscommunication did occur, these were smoothly handled and our relationship remained strong. Plus, we love our new home, thanks very much to the effort from MingYi and Chris.

Working with Fineline was a breeze as our queries were responded to very promptly. Our designer Wayne put in a lot of time and effort into guiding us through the reno process - from the initial design, to materials & tiles selection, and even gave us valuable input on furniture selection. On top of that, he is also very patient in understanding our preferences for our home and provided valuable advice. Our home design is very functional yet without compromising on the aesthetics. We are very impressed by the premium quality of the workmanship and materials used. For our budget, it is really a steal to be receiving such great service and end product. What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Work with an ID who understands your needs and preferences so that your idea can be actualized in the exact way that you envision it to be. At the same time, it is important to consider the advice and recommendations from your ID as they are usually much more experienced than first time homeowners and hence are able to highlight potential issues that may arise from certain design choices.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

We worked with Raymond for our reno and found him to be very honest and transparent. He didn’t unnecessarily up sell services and in some cases even advised us what parts of the resale house we bought could be reused/refreshed with a new coat of paint or varnish. We also found him to be very responsive to our questions, always on hand and willing to do a quick video call if we wanted to check if our purchases were correct/fit for purpose. Another plus point was that he kept closely to our initial budget which was something we wanted to ensure we don’t unnecessarily exceed. Good experience!

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Always look for an ID who gives the best advice, is prompt in his/her replies and will be patience with answering all your queries.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Everynow and then, people will wanna book a hotel or chalet for a stay cation just to get away from work and stress. Our family have such thots too. Our Id (Raymond) have make our dream come true, our stay cation became a permanent reality. We are enjoying our stay cation everyday at our home sweet home❤️

Finally find the time to pen down our review and thoughts with FineLine Design. Back in Q4 2019 after we received our BTO keys, we started our ID hunt. As this was the first house renovation for both of us, we were initially quite lost while trying to shortlist our potential ID. Our ID from FineLine Design was Serene Chong, a patient and amicable ID whom we were most comfortable with. Based on our budget, she will make an effort to explain the pros and cons of the various designs and at the same time giving us alternative design ideas, which benefit us in the long run. She would also meticulously prepare all the documents and go through the quotation item by item with us so that we know what we are paying for. We eventually selected Serene to design and oversee the renovation process of our humble abode, and we would say she definitely did not disappoint! As both of us are working on weekdays and only have time on weekends to monitor the renovation progress, Serene gave us timely updates to assure us that the renovation was on track. Moreover, we had requested to move in by CNY if possible, which Serene has somehow managed to squeeze in, else our renovation would have been affected by work delays due to COVID-19. Not forgetting the post renovation follow-ups, be it minor paint, electrical or kitchen counter-top issues, she would engage her various teams to rectify the defects immediately after CNY break and ensure no outstanding defects before handing over the unit back to us. We would highly recommend Serene and her team for anyone who wants to leave their renovation in good hands Thank you for giving us a warm and cost home to live in! :)

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

My mom was certain that she wanted the moroccan theme for her new 2 room flexi flat, but she wasnt interested in any of the usual IDs who specialized in/had experience designing that theme. When we met Aki at one of the qanvast hangouts, my mom decided to work with him for his sincerity. Even tho he had not designed a moroccan theme before, he tried his best to bring in the elements which my mom requested. As this is my mom's home for life, Aki was proactive in suggesting durable materials that would last and required little maintenance. Aki also showed great patience and understanding, needed for dealing with the elderly. Thank you Aki for your great service right up till the end!

Firstly I would truly like to thank Raymond and Yong Xiang for making our dream come true. Not only are they very creative but they are also very practical in offering is informations which helps us in building the beautiful home of ours. Fineline interior designers have my total trust as they proved to be a worthy ones. In the process, we became friends which is very hard to come by. Yong Xiang has been really meticulous in his work and all out to ensure we achieve the ideal home of our dream. He covered all the hard work so that we do not have to worry much about the on-going renovation. Any issues along the way, he will first try to resolve before engaging me and every time the solutions he provided for us we are very satisfied. We had engaged Fineline Design to renovate my place. We started in Dec 2018 and completed within 2 months. Our IDs were Mr Roger and Xiang Ling. They were very professional and I am extremely satisfied with their services. They don’t hard sell and are a responsive and responsible team. Roger would even go the extra mile to help us with the little things. We had limited budget but wanted a TV console. Roger gave a practical solution to install our TV that looks aesthetically pleasing. They had to liaise with my condo MA to do renovation. They would reply immediately whenever I asked for updates. There was a miscommunication resulting in 1 cabinet having a wrong measurement. Roger immediately re-did the cabinet and delivered according to our requirements. Till date, Roger has been kind enough to answer my questions and even provided advice - 3 months after my renovation was completed. Kudos to such a great team. We have gone several appointments with other ID Firms and Contractors but Jayden caught our eyes and attention during our first meet up. He showcase his ideas and plan for our reno works and we find out that his ideas and us are on par. And most importantly, the reno quotation that’s been offer by him meet within our budget. During reno works, Jayden assured us all works will be completed withim timeframe. During reno works also, we go for 2 weeks vacation but Jayden took care of the reno for us without any single worry. Communication with Jayden was also superb. All enquiries will be answered promptly and most importantly me & Jayden had bonded well and now i feel that he’s a friend of mine instead of an Owner to ID relations! Good job Jayden! Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Aki from Fineline was able to understand the direction and concept my Mrs and I were after. We bought a resale mansionette which we were prepared in overhauling. He won us over with his proposals including space planning, materials, overall concept and design. I like being involved and Aki was very open in collaborating each step of the way. We were kept posted on progress on a daily basis. Alternatives and options were always provided for by Aki for our consideration and I would say that he proved his mettle as we proceeded with a number of his ideas. Changes were also accommodated. Fineline provided their services for all aspects of our house to home transformation. Masonory and flooring, carpentry, electrical, piping, windows, designing, and project management. Aki's biggest traits are patience and being accommodating. We are currently in the last phases of rectification. Budget 15% overrun. Schedule was overrun due to some challenges in delays of approvals and materials.

Look out for designer who is patience and accommodating.

We decided to engaged Fineline Design services during our first meet-up. We had high expectations regarding quality and workmanship and both Raymond and Minyi were able to rise to the occasion. At times, there were challenging constraints regarding the design and structure of the fittings but they managed to resolve each issue in a beauty. We had no worries letting both designers do what is necessary to present us with our desired home concept and it took us immediately to have "home feeling" when the renovation was completed. Overall, Fineline Design was impressive as they had customised and created our home. We met Aki at one of the Qanvast hangout event, to find a designer for my mom's 2-room flat. Of all the designers we spoke to, Aki and his team seemed the most genuine. Pre-renovation and during the renovation process, Aki was always contactable. He checked and followed up on my mom's requests promptly. The workmanship is of high quality, and the design was well thought out. Although we chose a theme that Fineline is not known for, they have managed to deliver it quite well. The end product surpassed our expectations.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Finding an interior designer who is eager and excited to renovate your place says a lot. It means that they will be able to deliver what you want.

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

Minyi has good listening skills. She quickly learned our design preferences and made proposals incorporating our ideas and concerns. Due to her responsiveness, concerns during renovation were quickly dealt with. She kept to budget, timeline and quality of delivered works. She kept us updated of progress regularly with photos of works. Her quotes for works were also comprehensive and we did not have unplanned bills. We were very happy with the new home.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Get a designer who will be committed, reliable and knowledgeable so that you will know your house will be in safe hands. Most importantly, she/he must be trustworthy!

Would you recommend this Interior Designer and why?

We found Fineline through social media and shortlisted them for their designs, and attended one of the events at Caesarstone showroom. Beforehand, we consulted around 5-6 IDs beforehand and visited 3-4 completed projects before deciding on Fineline. Our designers were Minyi and Jayden. Minyi is very patient, helpful and responsive. Jayden will give suggestions on the feasibility and layout. As I am more particular with the workmanship of their carpentry and painting works, I asked to visit their completed projects and am overall satisfied with their quality. They are also able to provide a two year warranty on their workmanship. Minyi and Jayden help to give suggestions on the color combinations and we also input based on our preferences. We did quite a few rounds of selections to the flooring, wall tiles and laminates. Minyi is also accommodating and helps us find samples for our requirements. She will meet us after work and on weekends to go through the designs. We also get the flexibility to choose our own vinyl and pole system wardrobe for our master bedroom and these are excluded from our reno costs. Minyi also does a good job in planning the carpentry layouts including kitchen, shoe/living room display, toilet vanity and wardrobes and allow us to go through a few rounds of changes including routing of water supply for our water dispenser and additional shelvings. We also requested for blum drawers and blum hinges for the whole house with some top up. Fineline's quotations are itemised and detailed. We also asked for quite a few optional items which gives us the flexibility to work within our budget. I guess some of the VOs could be avoided if we have decided earlier whether to overlay two walls of the bathroom or three walls. We repainted the dining area false ceiling white as we initially chose a grey shade from the living room wall which I found to be too dark later. I earlier wanted to have the option of having a dishwasher but decided not to as the kitchen base is already completed and having a dishwasher will reroute the pipings and have additional costs. It would be helpful if fineline can provide a final 3D rendering based on the final selection of laminates, wall colours and flooring to give a better idea of how the house will look like. After moving in, Fineline also arranged their painter to come up and do several rounds of retouching. I found one area of the bathroom where the water does not flow to the drain and Minyi helps to arrange for tiler to assess and retile as we kept the spare tiles. All in all, I am happy with the end result and the services rendered by Minyi and Jayden. I would recommend Minyi and Jayden to home owners looking to renovate their new house.

We engaged Fineline Design to renovate our home. Our ID, Zenith really help us on the design for our home. He giving us a lot of suggestion, ideas and recommendation. He also keep us updated on the progress for our house during the renovation. The house looks well organised. The wardrobe has a nice design texture including the other carpentry. Fineline Design had conducted themselves professionally and well ! Our designer, William, had been fantastic throughout the renovation from start to finish ! We sourced for different IDs and decided on Fineline Design largely due to William’s confidence and also Fineline’s accomplishments. William is an experienced ID and is able to effectively communicate with us the challenges faced during the renovation. He is open to suggestions and is able to translate our ideas into executions. More importantly, he is prompt in his replies, readily available and carried himself professionally. I had a wonderful experience with Fineline Design and will recommend William and Fineline Design to my family and friends.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

If there is anything you're unsure of, ask your ID or seek your family/friends who has past experience in renovating their home. Their past experience on the technical details will help our in your blind spot too. Some advice i would give would be 1) plan ahead on the electric power points you want in your house. you dont want a situation where your cables go dangling around in the house. 2) ensure there is sufficient lighting points and lights in your house. you would not want your house to have a spot without lights. 3) always think of the long term maintenance required for a specific choice of material or design. functionality vs design.; sometimes we might not get the best of both worlds. Xiang Hao is very patient with us. He tries his very best to help us out no matter what. He is the go to person whenever we have any questions at whatever time of the day. We have a really tight budget and with his many years of experience and knowledge, he was able to gave us the best solution to what we wanted without compromising the quality and design. I truly believed in Fineline Design as they had time and time proved that they care about us and helping us achieve our dream home.

• Do a background check of the company, ask around for reviews and do check out their portfolio to see the workmanship quality • ASK alot of questions and don't be shy about it. • Have a rough timeline in your mind and do also inform your ID firm in advance. • Ask for your ID Designer portfolio to see if his/her style suits whatever you are looking for. (every designer is different) • Check in alot with your ID so as to avoid ay miscommunications. Be sure to confirm everything and each detail before signing off and starting any work. • Relax and have a happy time building your dream home. There should be no stress about it.

Raymond was very patient in answering our queries and will try to explain in layman terms in order for us to have a clear picture of the design he had in mind and the overall progress of the renovation works. If there are certain designs which are not feasible, he will counter propose such that the overall concept is not compromised. Rectification of defects after handover were also attended to satisfactory. Renovation works in progress are updated to us via sms or pictures and we are satisfied with the overall quality of the workmanship.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Find an ID whom you are comfortable with. Clear communication between the ID and homeowners, thus always seek clarifications when in doubt. Have a budget (with some excess, just in case) in mind.

Roger is a responsive and knowledgeable ID. He will always be contactable where possible. There were occassion where we have to shift our meeting to odd yours due to work committments and Roger was able to accomodate

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Furnishing and renovation is a costly affair. Budget the items that require vs want. Slowly build up your home at a confortable pace. Compare different quotation and services that ID will be providing. Renovation takes time and you would need to have a ID whom you are comfortable with communicating throughout this period

Yes, I will recommend this ID.... They are accommodating.... They understand our budget well.... They put in an effort to look into design details....

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Though we have hired ID, I would advise homeowners to visit your new home during each phase of the renovation as to ensure everything is up to your expectations. Do engage actively with your ID for the details like furnitures, curtain, etc to ensure it matches the overall theme.

Always remember what kinda space for what purpose you require. Don't plan for things that just look good, make sure all spaces are full utilise and works for your family.

Raymond was able to quickly identify the style and feel we were looking for and executed it very well. He's also very experienced and obviously knew what he was doing. Good aesthetic sense and was able to give great recommendations, while not making us feel compelled to follow his suggestions.

Take time to find a good ID who makes you comfortable and confident in their abilities, and let them do the hard work. Be open with your thoughts because the more aesthetically-pleasing ideas may not always be the most practical. After all, it's where you're going to be living in :)

We are generally satisfied with the service provided by Jayden. In the entire process, he was very open to our suggestions but at the same time knew when to offer his professional opinion. Therefore, the final outcome of the renovation turned out to be quite close to the way we had visualized it. He has made an effort to fulfill our requests as much as possible. Additionally, we have found that Fineline takes their clients seriously and provided us a sense of security that they take pride and stand firmly behind their product and services. Handover was done in November 2017. We are happy with our new home so far. We will evaluate and share the quality of their after-handover services if we engage any.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

Engage a designer who is able to balance the two qualities of being open to your suggestions, but at the same time has his/her professional opinion, and know when to insist on them. Engage a designer that you feel comfortable communicating with, not one with a profile so high that you feel intimidated by or one you feel you need to babysit them through every small detail. Ask the company to provide quotes that are more detailed. Yes you will need to do more studies but it pays in the long run to understand more on what is being done to your house.

Pay attention to the workmanship of the carpentry work as we feel that the workmanship of the carpenter could be improved. The owners better oversee the revo process for QC.

Keith and Jeremy worked very well as a team. Both of them took care of the aesthetic as well as the practicality consideration of the entire home. Being a owner who knows what I want, Keith and Jeremy were able to provide me with good advice on how to better what I wanted and to let me know if there is any shortcoming in my proposal. After our material selection and first round of 3D drawing, I have decided an entire change in the colour scheme from grey to rich brown. Not only did Keith and Jeremy spent a entire Saturday going through again the laminates and colours we can work with, Jeremy has also demonstrated great professionalism in trying his best to find the best match for my TV console laminate. Without commitment and passion, I believe many IDs will not have been as patient as them in dealing with the change. During the renovation when my husband and I were away for a week's vacation, we were kept very well informed and updated on the progress with pictures and assurance that the project is going on well. Even my neighbour was complimenting Keith for always being there every morning to monitor the progress. My husband and I are definitely very pleased with their commitment and quality of work. It feels good to have devoted IDs who take pride in their project and gives attention to little details. I will definitely recommend their service to my friends and relatives.

Roger Sim is a honest and sincere contractor. He also has good ideas and has vast experience, having done renovation works for different types of dwelling and offices. He is consultative and he listens to our needs. If we didn't like his design, he is more than willing to listen to our ideas and incorporate them into the project. He completed the project in time and at a reasonable cost.

You have to tell the contractor what are your needs . Show him samples of what you like and what you don't like. Always keep him engaged and meet him regularly. Go down to the worksite regularly to see the completed works. If you don't like anything that you see, you have to tell them immediately, so that corrective action can be taken !

Fineline was able execute what we envisioned our house design to be into an actual product. It is important that the designer understands what his clients want and need. Chun Peng was able to take our ideas and suggestions, put them on a drawing board and present his own positive inputs as well. Of course, we did not hit off with the first design. There were several revisions to the original design but Chun Peng was patient and understood that we wanted our first home to be as much as we envisioned it to be.

What advice would you give to future homeowners?

It's always good to do your own research, especially in finding out the most cost effective way to achieve the look that we dream of. I read many articles, looked through many home deco websites before deciding on the overall theme & direction we wanted for our home. We also made it a point to pop by our house as much as we can during the renovation process to check that things are going along as agreed. This way, at least if there are any mistakes, you can clarify with the ID as soon as you can to avoid any miscommunication. Most importantly, it is vital you communicate your thoughts and ideas to the interior designer & if he's able to understand them, add value & maintain consistent communication throughout the entire process, you're probably in good hands.
